The Gulf Coast Protection District (GCPD) has issued its 2024 Annual Report, detailing the District’s financial condition, key milestones, and planned activities for 2025. The report highlights continued progress on large-scale coastal storm risk management efforts and outlines the District’s ongoing coordination with federal, state, and local partners.
“This report provides a snapshot of the strategic, technical, and organizational progress we’ve made over the past year,” said Coalter Baker, Executive Director of the GCPD. “From advancing design work on the Coastal Texas Project to supporting implementation of key features within the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Project, 2024 was a pivotal year for the District. We’re proud to share our accomplishments and remain focused on building the partnerships and systems necessary for long-term success.”
The 2024 report includes a review of major project milestones—such as the execution of the Design Agreement for the Coastal Texas Project and ongoing design and construction activities for the Orange County and Port Arthur projects. It also outlines proposed work and a detailed budget for 2025, reflecting GCPD’s growing responsibilities as the District’s projects move into construction.
“Our mission to reduce storm surge risk and protect the economic and environmental assets of the Texas Gulf Coast is more important than ever,” said Michel Bechtel, GCPD Board President. “The 2024 Annual Report not only highlights where we’ve been, but also clearly sets the direction for where we’re going. We look forward to continued collaboration with our partners and the communities we serve.”
